Review: Frozen by L.A. Casey

My Thoughts:

A sizzling romance with all the feels— a story about friendship, and second chances.

★★★★

Synopsis

There’s one must-have toy this Christmas, and Neala Clarke has told her niece Charli she’ll get it for her. Never mind that she’s got less than a week and it looks like everywhere is sold out. She’s promised Charli a Fire Princess doll—and Neala is a woman of her word. Darcy Hart is a people-pleaser. So when his adorable six-year-old nephew, Dustin, asks for a particular doll at the last minute, he says yes. Luckily for Darcy, there’s one left in stock at the local toy store. Unluckily for Darcy, he’s not the only person who wants it—and his rival is the one woman who’s immune to his charms. Neala and Darcy have loved to hate each other since they were kids, and they’re both willing to do whatever it takes to get that doll. This can’t possibly end well for both of them…can it?

My Review:

Oh, how love a book with a great sense of humour and friendships – to – lover’s story. Even when I thought the very opposite of what I thought it would be, I really enjoy it! L.A Casey transport us into the lives of Neala and Darcy (who really was a Mr. Darcy at all) and what happened between these two to have world war 3 ever time they were together.

We meet our prince charming Darcy, as Neale’s longtime friend who broke her heart at school by siding to another girl. Darcy is like one more of the Clark’s and they do everything together he believes he doesn’t care about having Neala ignoring him all the time and actually he kind of hate her, because she never let him explain himself. But all his thoughts are quickly replaced by lust and sexy thoughts about her, his predicament worsening each day, but instead of letting it happen and accept he loves her, Darcy breaks Neala’s heart again.

Neala is young woman whose grudges are her worst enemies. Having lived with constant reminders that Darcy never cared enough for her, she has worked hard to build a wall between them and think he doesn’t even exists in all aspects of her daily life, but it’s hard when he is everywhere, but her greatest fear is to give him another chance and let him break her again.

As their families play a prank on them, Neala and Darcy’ life change and the wall starts to falls each day, their attraction inevitable does the same. But for two people who have been in a fight for years, admitting that war was over because they love each other might prove to be their biggest problem or fear.

A multi-layered story that is as confronting as it is romantic, humorous as it is challenging, a story for a second chances and new beginnings. Where both characters are trying their best to let go of their fears and contradictions. A man who’s afraid of being rejected and falling hard in love for the girl that never let him explain a thing, of a woman’s fear to let her only love to break her for a second time she won’t able to pick out the pieces.
