My Thoughts:
A provocative period romance. Rife with tension, thrills, second chances and hunting revenge.

Synopsis

Cate Whitfield harbors revenge in her heart for the bloodthirsty pirate who murdered her betrothed. So she’s stunned to learn that he is to be her father’s guest of honor at one of his revelries—and even more upset to discover that Captain Alexander Chase may not be the scoundrel she believes.
Even though she has publicly branded him a criminal, feisty Cate mesmerizes Alex. But the former pirate isn’t about to let her accusations deter his own agenda for vengeance. He’s returned to Promise, New Jersey, to retaliate against the man who murdered his father … the man who just happens to be Cate’s father.
Trouble is, he may be falling in love with her, and she’s hell-bent on seeing him punished. Can these two wounded hearts find out the truth before it’s too late, or is their love doomed to walk the plank?
My Review:
From the beginning to the end I was hooked to this story. This is a book about finding the true, revenge and meant-to-be’s, about people two souls who mark each other irrevocably and eventually after all the misunderstanding they find a way to be together, regardless of the new events.Alex and Cate have led different lives, Cate is from the upper class families and Alex a pirate which recently gained enough money to be a worthy man among the upper class society. When they meet, Cate’s revenge vanish a bit because she finds herself liking how Alex looks like way too much and Alex is mesmerizing by the blonde with fetish attitude.
Their attachment is immediate but there are a lot of secrets, misunderstandings and revenge feelings standing between them. But even when Cate tries to avoid her feelings slowly both of them succumb to their attraction. The more they spend time together their desire for each quickly grows into affection and ultimately love. They connect on every level, completely baring their souls to one another, but some secrets are in the way and if they don’t face them together they won’t be able to achieve complete acceptance and move forward. What I found most appealing about them was how openly they talked about their feelings and hopes for the future.
This story of unrequited love if we can called that ways, of two individuals clear made for each other but whose lives follow separate paths – their journey might be a bit troublesome and excited to read, bringing themes of abuse, lies, revenge and killing into the equation, but it served as a great backdrop and contrast to the smooth story between Alex and Cate. There is also a secondary story going in this book, and there’s were captain Bonette appears – wanting and seeking Alex to kill him, while his sex life is extremely active while he gets to where Alex is.
I decide to read this book for two reasons – firstly, I was really captivated by pirates and historical theme, and secondly because when I read the synopsis I couldn’t help myself to see Sam Heughan as Alex and that on its own is a reason enough for me – LOL.
Overall, The Pirate’s Lady was such an enjoyable, thrill ride, sure footed on both the romance and adventure fronts.
