Synopsis

Shrouded in unspeakable horror and spoken of only in whispers, the abandoned Devil's Cove Manor lures Captain Devlin Limmerick and his unquenchable thirst for revenge to its doors. Feared as the Devil on the high seas, the pirate’s desire to avenge his past is matched only by his hunger for the powerful young medium he has coerced to aid him in his nefarious quest. Blinded from youth and touched with an ability to communicate beyond the grave, Grace is both feared and revered by the uneasy town folk. Yet she is powerless against the unrest brewing within the manor walls and finds herself drawn to the Devil's darkness. Still, she refuses to sacrifice her soul to set Devlin’s unspeakable plans in motion. But an evil lurks within these walls, and their very souls are in jeopardy. Grace’s presence at the manor spurs inexplicable happenings, forcing Devlin to believe nothing is as dead as it seems—not even his heart. Plunged into the throes of passion and danger, they discover the only way out is to search deep within and summon the courage to believe in true love.
My Review:
Devil’s Cove hype is definitely warranted. Its unique, Gothic suspense, paranormal demons, psychic abilities, horror, violence, predatory lust, entertaining and thoroughly an addicting read.
Grace, a woman gifted with the ability to interact with spirits that through all the chapters is going to make you forget she can’t see with all the other context, is our heroine an unique one, she stands out among everyone even when she can’t see while some and even she might consider it a bad thing, I thought it was one of her best qualities. She’s not afraid of what she can’t see and she go after that. Grace is invited to Devil’s Cove for her psychic tools, but Devlin and Grace soon find themselves exploring a most inconvenient attraction.
Devlin is dark enough, and has such ambition for revenge, that this novel lives up to its romantic suspense tag. At times I felt he would embrace the hero moniker and put Grace’s needs above his own, but he doesn’t he’s so selfish and want his revenge above everything else.
The story is fast-paced and pulse-pounding from the very first page. I read straight through the book in one day. The beginning erupts with a graphically violent attack that catapults the reader straight into nightmarish horror. He was almost escaping from his feeling, I felt he probably wouldn’t have gotten away with that for long if he really wanted too, however, that’s a minor complaint of mine.
The ending completely surprised me and I actually loved, Grace was so brave before my eyes that I loved the fact her story didn’t needed a prince in a shining armor. Every time I thought I figured something out, a new thing would pop up and I definitely could not figure out how things were going to tie together. I was pleased that the story tied up rather well and while it left me eager I liked it a lot. And I am totally in love with this Victorian Gothic cover.
